TRUE STRENGTH

“Why can’t we fight or punch back?” my cell group member asked. He was being bullied in school for his faith. I said it was not the way Jesus would respond, and that giving in to them would amount to nothing. We ended in prayer.

Today’s passage talks about David’s encounter with Goliath, the giant Philistine. Last year, a terrible crisis made me feel like David Fighting Goliath, because of the magnitude of the problem before me. My 29-year-old daughter was stricken with a severe case of dengue fever. TIME’S UP
“I have been speaking out of my great anxiety and vexation all this time.” -1 Samuel 1:16

It took me a total of 10 minutes to “grieve” over a particular situation, one that would bring uncertainty. But as I put my dependence on God, what came to me was, Ok, time’s up! Grieving is over. Move on now. The Holy Spirit assured me that everything would be fine. I even found it amusing that I quickly recovered from a seemingly negative situation. Besides, I would be wasting time in emotional land when I could just figure out solutions. And I was already excited about how God would again surprise me with a new way of doing things.
